President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Tennessee Valley Authority Act into law on May 18, 1933, which means that it is 78 years old today. There are still a lot of families in these parts whose land was taken for TVA projects or for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and who don't think too highly of the federal government because of it.
