Battle of Shiloh
The Battle of Shiloh took place April 6 and 7, 1862, in Hardin County, Tennessee. Union forces commanded by Major General Ulysses S. Grant and Major General Don Carlos Buell defeated Confederate troops under General Albert Sidney Johnston and General P.G.T. Beauregard. About 110,000 troops were engaged in the battle, and there were about 45,000 casualties of the fighting.
