Spring into the Arts

Looking for something new, fun, and creative to do this Spring? Brooks Public Library has you covered:

The Walkabout Paintings

Brooks Public Library has a new art exhibit in the Gallery: The Walkabout Paintings by Paul Woodrow, a professor in the University of Calgary's Fine Arts Department. Woodrow's paintings intertwine conscious and unconscious thoughts and are meant to reflect the geography of the mind. It's a stimulating exhibition and it's only here until the end of April. This exhibit is sponsored by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Center.

Brooks Public Library Online Book Club

The new Spring selections are up at the Book Club Blog. Pick a selection, read it at your leisure, and then converse with other readers at the blog. Find it online at http://bplbookclub.blogspot.com/.

Writers' Workshops

Elizabeth McLachlan is the new Writer-in-Residence for the Shortgrass Library System. As part of her residency, Elizabeth will be in the Brooks Public Library to host a writers' workshop and give an author talk. This event is planned for early May, but dates have not yet been finalized. Stay tuned for more information soon!
