Sarah has learned to play Monopoly, and she likes it a lot. We play a somewhat modified version of the game. For example, a lot does not become available to the highest bidder when the person who lands on it chooses not to buy it. Also, Sarah likes the rule that requires players to put payments from Chance, Community Chest, Income Tax and Luxury Tax in the middle of the board to be claimed by whoever lands on Free Parking.
The child recently experienced the sublime delight of owning both Boardwalk and Park Place, building upon them and then bankrupting her father with the rent. I am not one of those parents that allows a child to win, and she beat me fair and square. Since then I have been successful in preventing her from acquiring both Boardwalk and Park Place, though I have not yet been fortunate to have acquired them both. The game goes on.
